A truly local pub at the heart of Torquay - Residents and visitors will always find a warm, friendly welcome at the only pub in Torquay's Melville Hill Commmunity, The Clipper Inn at 14 Melville Street. The bar opens at 12 o'clock every day and is run by Landlord, Dave Brazier pictured below with his son, Ben.

Dave is a member of the ROTH Focus Committee and his pub hosts Community socials, raffles and quizzes providing a meeting place for local people. It is ideally situated for visitors and holiday makers to the resort who want a quiet drink close to the town centre as it is a short walk from the cinema, harbour, Rock Walk and various restaurants.

The Clipper is very old and the buildings date back to around 1840. Melville Street was at the commercial heart of Torquay before the River Fleet was completely covered over around 1850 and the present town centre of Fleet Street and Fleet Walk built on top. Formely named The Melville Inn, it used to be one of three local pubs. The others, The Warren Inn and
Coburg Inn have since closed and been made in to residences.

The pub can be found on the left hand side of Melville Street from Abbey Road. Parking is close by at Melville Lane Car Park. Buses to Newton Abbot and other parts of Torbay are minutes away.
