Recent one liners from members of the community

"Our new planters are a sign
to everyone that we really care about our Community. Every penny to buy them came from pockets of local residents"
"I think the area around Melville Street and Warren Road has really improved. I can see the difference every
time I visit"
23rd August 2010 -The Council in partnership with May Gurney have called
themselves Tor2 and designed a recyling scheme for the whole of Torbay by supplying a selection of bins and containers for
people to seperate their rubbish. Local people in our area are keen to recycle and suggested some communal bins for the purpose
of going green in Melville Lane car park. However, Tor 2 had a better idea and below are some comments from people
in the area. More can be found on facebook and local press."
"I think the new recycling bins are
a waste of tax payers money. The Council should have consulted with local people first and not used our money in this way.
Recycling bins at Melville Lane Car park would be much better and cost less".
"The new recycling bins
from Tor 2 are ridiculous. What about the people who don't have outdoor space and have to share facilities.?"
"I saw one house in Melville Street with six of the damn things piled up outside the door when Tor 2 delivered
them on Friday. And the people have no where to put them"
"Can you ask Tor 2 to remove those dreadful
recycling bins that are kicking about our Streets? No one asked for them and they won't work here."
"I
am going to keep using my sea gull sack. I can't work out this damn recycling lark from Tor 2. I know several people who
are going to do the same as me"
"Will Tor 2 please remove the plastic bins they dumped around our area.
They should be done for flytipping!"
"The new bins will never work, a hair brain scheme by people who
sit behind desks and don't know the local areas, and us tax payers are footing the bill for their incompetence."
"I would like to think this scheme will work, but I have my doubts."
"Why weren't local
people consulted? Another example of autocracy from above"
"When they delivered the bins they gave me
two so I called the delivery drivers. They also left the building next which is three flats short. The delivery guy said "Are
you enjoying Jeremy Kyle on tv in a sarcastic manner". My reply was "No, I enjoy comedy and this is the best act
I've seen in ages".

"People who are too lazy to dispose of their rubbish properly and can't
be bothered to get a free sea gull sack or container should be heavily fined. There is no excuse at all."
"The problem is with a few let properties where the Landlord doesn't bother to tell his tenants about rubbish
collections and locals have to put with the mess". "Scenes like this make me sick. I will
report any disgusting person I see ruining our Streets and disrespecting our community this way. We deserve to live in
clean streets not have to put up being surrounded by other people's rubbish."

"We get panaromic views across Torquay town centre from
Melville Street and some are able to see the harbour and across the bay towards Brixham"
"We are so lucky
living here. It's a friendly Community right on top of all the facilities. Buses to Newton Abbot main line Station
go from Abbey Road every few minutes and the harbour and beach are both with in a short walk. This is definitely a good
place to come and live in with some really good developments planned for the future."
